I need a name for my car.
Someone in the comments brought up an interesting question for me; what to name the car?
It's a Ford Focus so I was thinking of Astigmatism would be kind of funny, but that idea was poo pooed by a couple of people.

So I leave it in your hands (though natually I have veto power), take my pole and decide for/with me.

It's been a hectic week!!!
It's been such a long time since I've written in this thing that I've almost forgotten how. I think that I'll remember...
Here's what I've been up to,
I bought a new car. A 2004 Ford Focus fully loaded (minus the leather seats). I'm so happy with it, especially with the sound system. I've installed an FM modulator (it plugs into the antenna and the car's power), so I can plug in my iPod and get the best sound possible. Weeeeee... now all I need is a trip to say, Edmonton, to try er our. The car's name... Adolf (thanks whoever you are!).
The family, and I mean all of the family was up for the weekend. Over 90 people packed into our shop for a dinner on Saturday and the night was a raving success. Wednesday was a BBQ at our house. Thursday was at an uncles. Friday at another uncles. Saturday was at ours. Sunday at another uncles. Monday NOTHING (except a supper with more relatives, but low stress!).
Kay we just got back from supper, and now I've been spending time creating B & M's wedding program. It's now time to go off to Fogg and Subs to see D & J. I'll finish the update later, sorry.

buying a car...
So I'm in the process of researching and buying a new car.
Here's what I do know, I require:
What I'm most seriously looking at right now is the Ford Focus. The one I'm looking at is deluxe with:
The price is right and so are the comsumer reviews. I couple of years ago this car was a lemon with only 50% of owners saying they'd buy another. It seems though that ford's turned it around, it's now considered a consumer report best buy. It's also the number one selling car in the world (especially in Europe) there's even an online presence with an owners club
Even thought I really wanted a VW (Gold or Jetta) or a Toyota (Corolla), they really are out of my price range. Even the civic is pricey. And GM offers nothing worth buying (the Optra is a piece of shit, the Avero is too and too small, and I'm not buying a Cavallier or a bloody Sunfire). Ford is taking over 1500 off the sticker price, giving me 1000 (I'm guess to compete with GM's ring in and win), and a 1000 grad rebate. All that on top of 0% financing and it's hard to beat. So, what do I do?!
I think that if I don't find a really good used model (and I'll sink money into the sound system) then I'll be going with the Focus.

Ballad Of The Boy In The Red Shoes from the album Songs From the West Coast by Elton John
Here's what I do know, I require:
4 doors
Manual transmission
AC
Either a really good (leave it) or a really shitty (replace it) stereo
A smaller car
A few features
What I'm most seriously looking at right now is the Ford Focus. The one I'm looking at is deluxe with:
Traction control
Moon Roof
Winter plus package (incl. heated seats and mirrors)
Cruise
AC
A 6 CD changer and the Audiophile Audio System (complete with sub and 200 W over all)
6 way adjustable seat
Tachometer
Fog Lamps
Heated washer nozzels
2.3L Zetec
16" tires with 5 spoke aluminum
Tinted windows
Leather Accents (but now seating)

i'm sick tired and what a night
Wow... do I go out with a bang.
3 more shifts.
Tonight was a circus, literally. So tonight I got to work and what is there? A circus. So it was a very busy night all round. To top it all off I was working with one of the fellows that I don't work so well with. After we were finished working he mentioned how "tight those ladies on the ropes were," meaning, of course, that he thought them to be very attractive. Fine. So I said "yes they're very talented." Some times no matter what you say people can turn it around. "Talented!" he said, "I know what you mean!" adding a certain sexual connotation type voice.... weird.
I walked over 20000 steps tonight, meaning that I charted over 12 km.
Till later....

P.S. I've got a massive head cold and my ears are plugged so it made it that much longer of a night.

I got the job!
I got called this morning at 10:00am to tell me that I got the job and that I start work on Monday. Sweet!!!!
I will have a G3 iBook and an external LCD screen (yay...) as well as access to the company vehicles, and, to top it all off I get my very own office. Cool. So for the next 6 months-at the least-I'll be a LAN administrator for School District #60.
Also of note is that I'm communicating to you right now without any wires whatsoever. I bought a wireless router and now I can communicate without wires throughout my house. I also hooked up a printer server to my old router.
That's about it. I'll off to bed and then to work.
I'm not feeling well (head cold), I'm the only one on tonight and the circus is in town. Needless to say, it'll be a shit show.
Till later...

mmmmmmmmmm soup....
Here's a picture that Kristin took of me at Timmy's.

Q: What are you doing?
A: Eating soup?
Sherri Ann Cabot: Leslie and I have an amazing relationship and it's very physical, he still pushes all my buttons. People say 'oh but he's so much older than you' and you know what, I'm the one having to push him away. We have so much in common, we both love soup and snow peas, we love the outdoors, and talking and not talking. We could not talk or talk forever and still find things to not talk about.
Best in Show
So anyhow, I'm done my Grandmother's 75th project and that's a big load off of my back. It's just over 32 minutes long and it's a very large file. I'm really happy to be done and I'm really happy with it, it looks good. iLife is amazing! iDVD includes the ability to create a bunch of slideshows and include the original picture files on the DVD. So everyone that comes to the party (and pays for a DVD) can then take the files to Walmart and get reproductions of their favorite pictures (almost 400 of then).
Now the next project is to start all over again and help create a presentation for B and M's wedding.
The rash is going away... I think. I stopped by the drug store and asked the pharmacist and he recommended cortisone ointment. It worked right away. Then my mother and father got home today from their little holiday and she had some prescription cream with similar medicine but way more powerful. One application of that shit and it made a difference. My mother also said that when she was going up on the farm they would always use pHisoderm (which is now sold as an anti-acne face wash medicne).
So the band (which still doesn't have a name) is playing on Saturday night and again Sunday in the lobby of the Northern Pikes Show so wish us luck.
I just left the house at 2:00 in the morning to deliver a book to a guy working graveyards. You know your schedule is mess up when 2:00 in the morning is early. Oh, and I gases up my car, and if I can recommend one time of the day to gas up your car, it's at about 3:00 in the morning. Why? No lines, you're not eating into your schedule (if you're me), and the guy at the counter is always more interesting at 3:00am then during the day.
That's about it right now. I hope that all your lives are good and life is well. Till later.

Thanks for the tips...
I really hope that it's not scabies, I really, really hope that it's not scabies. I'll see hope it goes for the next few days and then I'll go see a trained professional, a herbalist, or maybe a doctor... who knows really. Thanks also to V for the tip. I would never have thought of baking soda on my own. I'll keep you updated at the progress.
Jenica, you have great, no, really great taste! First David Cross and now David Sedaris. I bet that you even enjoy Helen Keller jokes?
So a co-worker and I went to Humpme's (Humpty's) after work and when the bar crowd came in a couple of people started to throw creamers. I'm glad to see that the trend is catching on but at the same time so what disheartened. They had no technique or style, just brash movements that screamed amateur. Perhaps with practice they'll improve but till then I will have to stick to my regular creamer crowd; the crowd that is subtle and perfect in their delivery.
Work flew by tonight, it was wonderful! I was setting up curtains (I'll upload the pictures later) for a bunch of delegates and dignitaries. If the weather is nice it'll be outside so they won't even get to see my stellar work, but if we get more tornados I'll be inside. Some of the guests include the American Ambassador for Venezuela (woooo) and a few Canadian Senators.
I also got a pedometer from work as they're running a program called Walk to Whistler as part of our cities bid to do Olympic-esk stuff for the 2010 games in Vancouver. Last night I walked over 16000 steps and tonight 12710 (or about 7.747 km). I'm not doing it to get fit... it's purely out of interest sake, i have to walk all the time at work anyhow, and I got a cool new gadget for free. "They" say that you're supposed to walk 10000 steps a day... but if it takes me 8 hours of walking (it's a rather large complex) to achieve 12000 I can't imagine how much "recreational" walking one would have to do a day to reach the goal.
Anyhow, that's it for now... wish me luck tomorrow on my interview!

i tried, but to no avail...
Last year I created what I called "the John Tour," and I was looking for this file and no matter what I do I can't seem to find it. I was using my brother's computer last summer so I'm guessing that's where I'll find it and perhaps in the future I can share it with you. Otherwise I might just have to make a new one.
Rash. Never ever be rash, but what do you do when you get a rash? I have a rash in the most awkward and embarrassing places that I can think of. My hand. It's only between the biggest knuckle and the middle one. It's on every finger but predominantly on the ring finger of my left hand. As far as I can finger the rash started after I used a pair of latex gloves at work, you know the ones with the baking soda inside? But I really don't know. If anyone knows of or can think of a cure just tell me (for some reason I'm thinking of V here).... it could be unrelated to latex (fingers crosses) and just eczema (if that's the case I'll still be seeking advice).
I started reading a book and if you're a gay male, a straight male that's comfortable with his sexuality and/or gay themes, a straight women that likes gay themes... fuck. if you're anyone, you should be reading David Sedaris. I purchased his new book (a #1 best seller according to the New York Times) after seeing him read on the Late Show with David Letterman. The book is called "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim," and you should but it. It's a best seller so Coles had it for 30% off which is good but it'll still cost you $27 (less in Alberta, damn PST). It's a collection of short stories or essays about his childhood and growing up. It's such an easy and empathetic read. I can relate to him and the themes in his book on so many levels and I imagine that anyone can in some way.
I also purchased "Life of Pi" at Walmart for a stellar $12 dollars. Tomorrow I'm heading back to coles to purchase "The Da Vinci Code" as they were out last time and it should be 30% off too. I've heard nothing but good about this book.
Lastly I thought I would share with you a couple of the things that people said when they saw my shocking hair the first time.
I'm glad that those comments have stopped... but it was fun. All right, back to work. Sleep tight and go spend some money on one of David Sedaris's many good books or plays.

in order to compete...
So gmail is 1 gig of space, or 1000 megs. (really closer to 1024 but who's counting?). How are the other free email services going to compete? While, I read in the Alaska Highway News (of all places) that hotmail is increasing their account sizes. Yahoo has already done this, up from 5 megs to 100, and allowing 10meg attachments. Hotmail is going to go up from 2 megs to 250 megs this fall and will also allow 10 megs of transfer. So the largest free web based email provider is catching up with the times. This is good for me because hotmail can download right to Entourage (Outlook for mac), and good for you PCers because it'll download right to Outlook and Outlook Express.
I do though still really dislike microsoft, so if gmail comes out with POP access I'll be all about that and even probably willing to pay a little extra for it.

I found a site that makes me laugh muchly
If you're into Zoolander... check this out.
Here are a couple of examples...
"Derek Zoolander: There was a moment last night, when she was sandwiched between the two Finnish dwarves and the Maori tribesmen, where I thought, "Wow, I could really spend the rest of my life with this woman".
"J.P. Prewitt: The truth is male models have been assassinating world leaders for over 200 years. Abe Lincoln wanted to abolish slavery, right? Well, who do you think made the silk stockings and powdered wigs worn by our early leaders?
Derek Zoolander: Mugatu!
J.P. Prewitt: Slaves Derek. So they hired John Wilkes Booth to do Mr. Lincoln in. The first model/actor! Dallas. 1963. John F. Kennedy.
Matilda: Lee Harvey Oswald wasn't a male model.
J.P. Prewitt: You're God damn right he wasn't, but the two lookers who capped Kennedy from the Grassy Knoll sure as shit were!"
"Hansel: I wasn't like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere's a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that. I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I'm selling? No. Do I know what I'm doing today? No. But I'm here, and I'm gonna give it my best shot."

She posted a big ole comment but it didn't post (she has rewritten it and it's in the comment of the Alf story. Well worth the read!). So, hopefully she'll do it again (and she did).

I'm not clever enough to figure out a band name myself, please help me out. Everything counts and there are no bad ideas. If we don't think of anything we're stuck with "The Resurrect Christ Foundation."

I'm not clever enough to figure out a band name myself, please help me out. Everything counts and there are no bad ideas. If we don't think of anything we're stuck with "The Resurrect Christ Foundation."

ALF IS BACK
This is from CNN (properly cited in Wadley fashion)
"NEW YORK (AP) -- Ed McMahon has found the unlikeliest of talk-show hosts to replace Johnny Carson: Alf, the alien from the planet Melmac.
McMahon will be announcing "Heeeere's Alf!" on a half-hour special scheduled to air July 7 on TV Land, the cable channel said.
"Alf's Hit Talk Show" will rely on the tried and true format of a late-night talk show with monologue, banter and guests -- with one significant alteration: an alien from a popular '80s TV sitcom as host.
Alf will be joined by guests Dennis Franz of "NYPD Blue" and comedian Drew Carey, with special appearances by Joan Rivers and Henry Winkler.
As for TV Land's faith in him to join the ranks of David Letterman, Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien, Alf said in a recent statement: "They have demonstrated superb taste by giving me my own show and it's humbling that they recognize my unequaled genius."
Whether the show is a hit will depend on the reception of the half-hour special, which could be developed into a series, TV Land said.
Following "Alf's Hit Talk Show," TV Land will run a four-episode marathon of classic "Alf" shows. The comedy about a furry alien wiseguy who lives with an Earth family after crashing into their garage ran from 1986-90."
ummmm cat. So it's a little weird... and since we don't get TV Land I guess it'll be up to BT.... but I really, really want to see it. I only hope and wish that it'll be as good as the Alf Movie!
