After an insanely stressful week I had a change of pace this weekend. Friday night was good times.
After work, myself and a coworker went to one of the restaurants in town that specializes in beer. There's literally dozens on the menu. That's not the point of the story. My coworker then invited his roommate. I played the role of the entertainer. My coworker often has pickle syndrome so I'm trying to loosen him up a little. After a couple drinks and a couple of appetizers his roommate goes to the bathroom. It's just me and my coworker; he says something to the effect of "I think we beating around the bush here." Which is far more bold then he usually is. I replied "no we're not, you're gay and so am I." I laid it out to prevent one of those awkward conversations where both parties resist saying anything and in the end both are simply uncomfortable. Now, lets get some things straight. I don't want to go out with him. I just have been wondering since I started working there and now I know. It's good to have like minded friends sometimes. By the end of the night there were four gay guys and two girls (straight I presume). It was very cathartic (god I love that word). After that, at 11 or so, I drove someone home and went to the Christmas dance. I danced a couple numbers and went home.
Saturday. Shopped with Kristin. Ate supper at my house with a special guest of honour, Michelle, and then had a very long and incredibly funny conversation about dogs. Or should I say; Kristin talked about dogs and we sat and laughed. Other animals were also on the agenda. Kristin and I then went to a new lounge... it was opening night.... we walked around... then we left.
Today. I say the matinee with Kristin, "Christmas with the Kranks." It was an okay Sunday afternoon movie. It was not nearly as good as the book I'm told and over all the movie is more of renter then a go to the movie kind of thing. Check it out when it comes on video, next Christmas. I won't say anymore but if anyone else has seen it feel free to comment (oh, 5.5 of 10).
A book I read. I can read, turns out. It's called Clay's Way and it's like a gay Catcher in the Rye. It was a great piece of fiction that didn't do the stereotype standards and managed to kind of make depressed (that's good... emotional impact). One second you're thinking, "how cool, it'd be great just to let go and say fuck it all," then in the next second you're thinking "fuck, I'm glad my life is a little organized and I don't just say fuck it." It's worth the read, gay or straight.
Anyhow, that's all for now. Time for bed.... if I can go to sleep. I have a new alarm clock and I can't wait to see how it works! :)

P.S. Michelle, thanks for the good times. It was a pleasure to be graced by your presence, see you in 20 days :)

A quick anecdote.
I requested time off at Christmas today. In the "reason for time off" section I wrote "Kwanzaa and other assorted holidays." Long story short. My holidays were approved. Ironic?
Here's some information about Kwanzaa as no one in my office knew.... it's from this site

Here's some information about Kwanzaa as no one in my office knew.... it's from this site
DEFINITION OF KWANZAA Kwanzaa is a unique African American celebration with focus on the traditional African values of family, community responsibility, commerce, and self-improvement. Kwanzaa is neither political nor religious and despite some misconceptions, is not a substitute for Christmas. It is simply a time of reaffirming African-American people, their ancestors and culture. Kwanzaa, which means "first fruits of the harvest" in the African language Kiswahili, has gained tremendous acceptance. Since its founding in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, Kwanzaa has come to be observed by more than18 million people worldwide, as reported by the New York Times. When establishing Kwanzaa in 1966, Dr. Karenga included an additional "a" to the end of the spelling to reflect the difference between the African American celebration (kwanzaa) and the Motherland spelling (kwanza).

studying
After my quick trip to Edmonton I was a little... jealous, that everyone but me was learning. So I'm studying my apple help desk course. WEEEE. Anyhow, if you own a blog you have to get ecto. It's so good!! It's cross platform too check it out here.
And my week was good. I went for drinks yesterday after work, good times were had. After the supper I went to leave and realized that the Santa Clause Parade was going on. My vehicle was trapped as I'd parked on the street. Little kids were all over my car, uck. I couldn't leaving and the I had no one to make fun of the parade with. I got in my vehicle turned on the tunes, reclined the seat and said fuck it. I would have liked to have a little nap, but alas, horns, horns, dogs, children, and stupid, stupid parents yelling at their kids. One family was drinking ice caps and the kiddies were complaining; no shit!!! Rocket science.

more on stuff.
Alright, continuing on. Read the next post as otherwise this one might not make a shit load of sense.
Saturday was the Roost... yes, there we are.
All in all, it was good times. The night became melancholy after the dancing was done. The crowd there was great, some great friends who were great dancers. K and L, you made my night. Aaron, you're a dear; you went to a gay bar and you aren't gay, and you had a good time (me thinks) and you have one hell of a british accent. Anyhow, back to the story. I was a little melancholy because I all of my former dance partners were coupled up and because I knew that I'd be leaving and going back to F-Town in a mere few hours. I had opted to drive as driving the next day with an hangover didn't seem too, how do you say, fetching? Upon leaving I was to drive some people home; no big deal. The people wanted to go to McDonalds; no big deal. We got there and it wasn't too busy, two cars were in front of us. The first backed up... into the second. That's when my night went blahhhhhh and for some reason I got pissy. I would have liked to back up and leave but another car was now pulled up behind me. Oh well. It was a weird night starting then. I did have a great night looking back.... it really was. So, thank you to all that came to the somewhat impromptu eve.
The trip back was quite enjoyable. We laughed and listened to music and made fun of lepers (stu). We also made "there once was a ____ from ______" rhymes. That's a great car game to play. Highly recommended. Try it!
I had a great but too busy trip. I didn't get to see everyone, or everyone enough, but I'll be back and there's always email. Tooooo much shopping to do, the post Christmas trip should yield greater visiting time.
I'd like to touch briefly on Rufus Wainwright. His new album came out on Tuesday. I phoned ahead and Fort St. John acctually had it. I went after work to pick it up. The guy at the counter asked if I would buy all of them as he said "there's no way in hell we'll see them all." As of the day of release I was one of two people in Fort St. John to own the CD. It's a great CD, not unlike every other Rufus cut, but it's a lot more depressing then his last couple. There are some great songs though, and it's growing on me. Recommendations? Sure. The One You Love is amazing, Little Sister is sweet, and Gay Messiah is catching on for me... it's in my head (not meant to be a pun but a good one none the less).
inside joke. Did you know that you're supposed to eat the sushi hole?
Michelle. My thoughts are with you and your Grandma and pa. See you soon. What's right?
If you have a good, slightly song like poem, you'd like to contribute, I'd like something to write music to. We'll talk.
That's about it. I have a bunch of random thoughts that I'd like to ramble on and on about but it's time for bed and my eyes are, ummm, humorous (duh, think grade 8 bio).

P.S. Dead Like Me = Facking Umazing. POP (it's the bubble gum on the cover).

Thank you amazon. thank you.
So, I think that I have my Christmas shopping done. That's correct, I'm done one month and 8 days early (with the exception of a couple of gift that tend to always pop up. The big ones are done though.). Yesterday I put in an order with Amazon.ca for over $300 dollars, which should be in in a couple of days, and over the weekend I spent more money in Edmonton at a multitude of stores. In all honesty I do like giving more then getting. So half of that $300 and most of what I bought over the weekend was a gift to myself; that way I get the best of both worlds, giving (to myself) and getting. Good thinking Wade. What did I buy you ask? While... for myself I bought two pairs of shoes, a sweeter, a coat, two shirts, and an oil scent burner from the Body Shop. At amazon I've got Latter Days on order as well as a few gay books, picture books, some more Dan Brown, some more David Sedaris, as well as several gifts. Don't worry, I bought a bunch of other stuff in Edmonton and Christmas will still be a happy one for some people and not everyone (in fact, barely anyone) will be getting books.
Off to Edmonton. My weekend was fabulous.
So, I let on Wed with my traveling companion D and got there around 10:00pm. There was much drinking to be done when I arrived and Marsha, Andrea, and I got started. Thursday was a day that accomplished little worth mentioning other then getting to see Amber and going to the succulent and sensational Bard in Ernie's for breakfast, ummmmmm... so good. I had the oh so good seafood benedict. If you're every in Edmonton I highly recommend this german eatery.
Thursday night was quite the event. We went to Than Than (spelling Marsha?), which is a Vietnamese restaurant, and it was tanfastic. I thought that Karaoke was supposed to start at 9:00 which is when we got there, turns out, the email said 8:00; fuck. Oh well, Karaoke didn't really get going until 10:00 or so... no harm no foul. I changed the name of karaoke night on thursday to fairyoke. There were so many gays guys that I think we out numbed the straight folks in the bar. We had a blast and only a couple of people had too much to drink; for once, I wasn't one of them.
Friday was shopping and relaxing. Sweet glorious relaxing. Sweet glorious shopping. ummmm relaxing. It was me, D, and his daughter R. I wonder what people thought? Were we a family? Were D and a I an item and R an accepting friend? Were R and I an item and D our loving father? What ever the case we played the situation up to it's full potential, honey. We went to the Sicilian Pasta Kitchen for din din. Highly recommended..... order the muscles with gorgonzola cheese sauce.
Marsha's a dear. Andrea's a dear. All my friends are dears.
I didn't get to see AA this weekend. I'm sorry about your loss and give my deepest condolences. Call is you ever need to talk!
Saturday was another day of shopping at the WEM. Good times. I bought more shit. Too many people in cowboy hats. Too many people in general. Checked out the VV (Value Village), bought a shirt. Went to a play.... very weird but totally worth the $9. Lastly the Roost at 12:00am. Another gay time.
Anyhow... more later... I must be off,
Wade

turns out... I didn't change every email
I thought that the changed all my accounts in everything I do. I thought of the dormant emails that I haven't used in years, of ebay and paypal. I even thought of my blog. What I didn't think of was my comments. Can you believe it? I mean really. What kind of tech am I.
So I've got it worked out, if you leave a comment you won't (read shouldn't) return your email. I'm a idiot for not thinking about it (because it's soooo fucking obvious blogger), but now I hope that at last it is in fact fixed.
One week from today, an hour from this very moment (8:05), I could be singing my little heart out at Karaoke in Edmonton. WEEEEE, the excitement of it all!!!
In other exciting news, myself and three others at work have decided on the new server we are going to buy for the district webserve (as well as a multitude of other functions). A dual G5 2 Ghz, with 1.2 terabytes of storage. wow. It's much needed and it should be fun to set up. Wow, the geek comes out.
Head, did you ever get that website set up? Can I advertise for you? Will everyone donate?
Here's the some more bad news regarding Tuesday (other then the fact that Bush got in).

In a major setback for same-sex marriage rights voters in 11 states where constitutional amendments were on the ballot passed the measure. Here's the full story.
The proposed amendments passed easily in Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Ohio and Utah. Only in Oregon was there a contest, but in the end, the measure won there too.
